Re: Audacity won't open Project file
Did you force Windows to show you what the "real" filename is? You could have a real file of MyGreatMusic.aup.doc and unmodified Windows will show you MyGreatMusic.aup. Audacity will not open that. Hidden File Extensions - Windows -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ...

Re: Audacity won't open Project file
Well, it is a text file. Can you open it in TextEdit or whatever your native text editor is? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg Yours will be a lot more complicated and crushed than this, but they're all semi-English words. Somewhere in the first line or two is going to be the Show/Project name...

Re: Combining Windows Media Player Plaback with Microphone I
I suppose one way would be to record a suitable number of tones (ie various tonics for different keys) and use them? I'll be making coffee while you try that. We got lots of time. People keep telling me you can get anything on-line and by Google. You can't find someone that recorded a pitch pipe? W...

Re: Choppy and fast playback
Fast and trashy playback means the computer was recording slowly. Something in your computer is soaking up resources or "going nuts" and not allowing it to do tasks normally and on time. Close everything you can close and restart the computer. Then make sure your virus protection is up to ...

Re: Combining Windows Media Player Plaback with Microphone I
Many computers can be set up for self recording, to record Stereo-Mix, What-U-Hear or other process which can change depending on your computer. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html Some don't, though, so it's not unheard of to have a computer wh...
Re: Noise
32 is the absolute, rock-bottom, minimum bitrate for a mono show. And that's assuming the show up until that point was perfect with no distortion or damage at all. Many people give up on 32 because it's so brittle and even if everything goes OK, some listeners can tell there's something wrong with t...

Re: Varying latency during track
I also have selected my system Solid State Drive for Audacity's temp folder rather than a slower mechanical drive. Is this necessary as I don't want to fill up the SSD with garbage? The system in on the SSD? One way to easily triple the speed of a computer or better is start throwing SSDs at it. I ...

The bar is a shortcut. You can also get there with Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices.

Re: Logitec H390 mic automaticly mutes when I hit record
I dug mine out of the box. Does your mute button also have the volume control? Mine is a +/- rocker control. I think I've used some that have a turny thing for volume and a push for mute. They can get confused. My mute acts normally but the volume control manages the laptop speaker volume, not the v...
