It's badly named. The object is to gently reduce noise, not remove it. Noise Reduction would be a better name.

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
I meant to do this earlier. Prepare a show normally plus leave a count of three or four "room tone" at the beginning. This is you staring blankly at the microphone and making no noise at all. You can do this at either end of the performance, but you will forget to do it at the end. Past ma...

Audacity may be doing that by accident.

Re: Engine noise to components?
We have no way to split different pumps or motors in Audacity. Once you have one show with two or more different instruments or voices or motors, you're stuck with the mix. It's a popular request.

Re: Recording several mics to separate tracks
Actually, the natural limit is two. Stereo Left and Stereo Right. If you can make do with that and mix down in Audacity, then devices like the Scarlett 2i2 might be for you. These devices are not mixers. Whatever you plug into #1 will appear on Left completely separate from what's going on on the ri...

Re: audio format for playing audio cd
Of course you could drag the MP3 tracks you want to play on to an Ipad or HD Fire and play via the headphone socket into the Radio Desk. Instant start being available via the Pause / Play on tablet. All true, but the station doesn't typically bring out connections like that. They're hidden behind t...

Re: Audio pop when pressing play
Just reading through that again, if Audacity makes popping sounds by itself, you could be in feedback.
Audacity > Preferences > Recording: Deselect the top three settings > OK.
