Re: Error not well-formed (invalid token) at line 63402

I found it valuable to turn off Auto Updates for just the problem you're having. Of course I do have to do them manually. I do updates and backups on Sunday unless I have an important production I want to back up during the week. You do backups in case of failure right? My rule is to put valuable wo...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

How about two #2 wooden pencils? It shouldn't be too difficult to round up two of those and their impulse is not likely to overload the microphone. "We need to be careful not to get Mars and Venus mad at us or they'll stop sending us candy bars and pencils." - Glendora — Afternoon Kids TV ...

Re: individual tracks

You don't need to play the tape again, you can re-open the WAV sound file you made during the first playing. If you didn't make a perfect quality WAV archive backup of the tape, that's the first problem. MP3 doesn't count. MP3 is a compressed delivery format, not a production format. If you open an ...

Re: individual tracks

Yes, but it does take a bit of effort. When you record your cassette, Audacity will give you one long "song" corresponding to one side of the tape. What you did was Export a sound file that was acceptable to your CD Authoring Program and there you go. A CD with one "song" on it. ...

Re: Clipping warning

I have noticed that if I load a track, massage it, save it, then re-open it, I can get different results.
I don't think I understand that. You get a different song?

Re: How many VST effects can I have Audacity 2.0.3 "Effects"

It does sound like a starving computer. Audacity has to also manage UNDO. UNDO gets wiped clean every time you restart. If you apply multiple effects to a large show, you could easily run out of memory or hard drive space — or both.

Re: Clipping warning

That was actually a defect. I think this is the change that fixed a problem we complained about for a long time. The old clipping indicator would turn red when a wave would just kiss the overload point, but would not actually create any damage or distortion. I believe the new one has a more comprehe...

Re: Can I set a time limit on my recording?

Transport > Timer Record.

You should be really careful and recheck your settings when you get ready to leave the house. All the settings, not just the ones you adjusted. I got in trouble once by rolling the date by accident and didn't catch it.
