Re: Problem importing VOB
That's Video Transport Stream (TS) and Video OBject (VOB) in English. You're getting all those metaphorical blank looks from us because FFMpeg totally supports decoding Video OBjects. We have no idea why it's not working for you. I know about one really unusual problem. Was the DVD recorded in a dif...

That did read like science fiction there for a while, but I think you can get effect if you have Sound Activated Recording set by accident.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Sound Activated... (deselect).

Re: Best way to edit PowerPoint/Audio su
Can you associate clips of sound with a slide? Then when a slide is deleted, the clip goes, too. It takes some practice to make that sound right. Are there macro segments in the show? You can shuffle individual times and descriptions, but the Pre-Cambrian and Mesozoic lectures generally stay togethe...

Skype recording without special software can be a problem. Were you recording on the same computer that was running Skype? Capture can actually work fairly well with two computers. Skype and other similar programs like to take over the computer sound services while they're running, so you may have b...

Re: Recording a Multi-Point Interview
Those grabs are all taken from the kiss-off interview at the end of the show, so you don't have to sit through the whole thing so see the motion version. Koz

Recording a Multi-Point Interview
Remember when I said people should set their cellphones on Personal Recorder and stick them on the talent for an interview instead of trying to run wires or use long-distance microphones? This is a "movie" made insanely cheaply and I was fascinated with how they handled sound. http://www.y...

Re: Unable to record through headphones
You're missing one significant item. Skype? Chat? Game Commentary?
Recording both sides of any one of those is killer difficult because the APP takes over the sound channels.
Skype responds well to the Pamela recording products. The other two are a problem.

Re: Need Help in Recording audio
I'm not sure what you're complaining about. The hiss sound in the first track will give you problems in post production. You should try to get rid of that before you start adding effects and filters. Trying to remove that much hiss in Effect > Noise Removal can cause very serious voice distortion. Koz

Re: Batch Split Of Stereo to Mono, Keeping Just The "Left" S
I got pieces: Use the little black arrow on the left and Split Stereo To Mono. That will give you two mono tracks where the original stereo was. Then destroy one track. Mono will blow back out to stereo in the CD authoring program. Another fragment: I think if you use the fader to the left of the tr...

Re: Recording!!!
You are doing overdubbing and singing against an existing backing track. Yes. That's normal. The backing track is under the control of Audacity, so you can change the latency (recording latency) with an adjustment. Not so the live voice. The live voice has to go through the computer and then come ba...
