Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Mr. Grathwahl from ACX has released more information about how the company tests submissions. We are applying A-Weighting to measure RMS, but we find Z-weighting to only measure ~3dB RMS louder than A-weighting in most cases. Indeed, we do A-weighting because transients have less of an impact on the...

Re: New Version Doesn't Have 'Reverse Speech' Function?
Don't you have Effect > Reverse? I have that effect in both 2.0.3 and 2.0.5, so we didn't leave it out.

Re: 27 second recording
My "last straw" is to uninstall it and re-install it and see if that cures it. You really need to pay attention. Reinstalling Audacity doesn't reinstall Audacity. You have to take extra steps to get the program to reset. Half way through the installer, click in the "Reset Preferences...

Re: Is there a way to "lock" a clipping?
The only way I know of to keep clips still is to put them on independent, top-to-bottom tracks.

Re: Stick Applied Effects to the Track, not the Show
I wouldn't like to be illegitimate. I hit the trifecta. Everybody knows you can't open up multiple Audacity programs at once. After completing the edit, I carefully saved the Project and then Exported the finished works as needed. I opened up Audacity the next day and realized I didn't remember how ...

My recorder says "Low" when you are expected to record low level sounds. It has the highest boost to the microphone signal.

Re: Can't see how to set up recording through Soundcard.
So you have been through the wiki postings we wrote? http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html You should probably know that Self Recording is not a guaranteed computer service. It rarely if ever shows up in computer sales brochures and some computers...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Where have you read about the ACX measurement habitude? I thought here, possibly in the form of Steve's repeating his conversations with ACX — buried somewhere under 20 chapters of comments. I can even remember some of my comments, but not accurately enough for the search system to hit. "If th...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
I can't reproduce the static effect, so the best I can do is post the actual static clip. It's a mono WAV file just under 10 seconds. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/AMStatic5.wav Loop it if you need more. I'll continue to try and remember how I got there. There's no trouble at all creating a m...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
How are we measuring ACX Compliance? I see through searching that we seemed to have settled on WaveStats. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=99454#p99454 I also see that WaveStats uses the "A" curve for RMS noise (normally pretty common). That's at variance with ACX specs which ...
