Re: microphone not picking up

There's a sequence of steps. You need to make the mixer run perfectly before you mess with the computer or Audacity. I would give you step-at-a-time, but my favorite supplier web site, Sweetwater, has gone down for system maintenance. [email protected]#$%^& If you have no mixer meters but you have a voice, the...

Re: No Playback on MacBook Pro

You should see that Audacity is trying to play to your speakers using the Device Toolbar. It doesn't have to do that — it's not automatic. One full step in the playback process is to see that the green playback meters are jumping. If you don't have those meters, nothing else you do is going to let y...

Re: Blank spots recording Skype

Still, why would a loud signal cause dropouts? I can generate reasons why a very loud digital signal can cause analog damage. Do you see the dropouts on your timeline — when you hear a dropout, do you have a blank spot in the blue waves? If you reduce the volume of the show, do the dropouts go away ...

Did I hit it? I couldn't tell from the posting which direction you were going. You probably don't want to record the Mac sound on the recorder because you can easily do that without the recorder.

I kept waiting for you to say: "And the lights on the mixer flash in time to my voice."

Do they?

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

I have not heard your latest work, but my attention is captured by a flashing light. The light is on my big system hard drive and the diagnostics suggest very strongly that it would be good to back up all my work now and look for a new drive. That leaves headphones on the laptop, not the best way, b...

Re: Audacity blew my speakers, and now they're ok again...?

Audacity has volume controls independent of the computer, so even if you have the computer sound relatively even, you can boost the Audacity playback volume enough to overload the speakers. Effects are a whole different world. If you do anything to greatly increase the very low pitch tones of the mu...

You are or were under Forum Moderation which means one of the forum elves has to approve your post. Hint: Do not try to sell us kitchen cabinets or male enhancing drugs. You should point to a specific reason you want to change microphones. As above, the Blue Snowball is a respectable microphone. One...
