Re: Need Help Cleani g Up An Audio File
When you do that Split Stereo Tracks to Mono thing, you might find that you have one good music track and a static-y dead track. Then you can celebrate. One of the reasons we hate MP3 is you can't easily do production with it. MP3 gets its small files by slightly damaging the audio, usually in ways ...

Re: Error _____ is already open in another window
You should probably try to restart the computer to resolve the multiple openings problem. Let us know if it worked. Koz

If you do want a sound file, you can Export one. Audacity will not Save a sound file.

Re: Error _____ is already open in another window
It's probably good to know how this works. You saved an Audacity Project, not a sound file. In it's simplest form a Project starts with an AUP file which is the project manager. It's a text file. You an open it up in TextEdit or Notepad and read it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg It's not a...

You can convert in Audacity before you export.
Depth/Rate Conversion
-- Change Project Rate (Hz) lower left > 44100
-- Track Name > Set Sample Format > 16-bit PCM

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
I cranked the Noise Reduction all the way up to 24 and got rid of more of the 120 Hz hum without seriously affecting the voice quality. I can't do the whole suite of corrections because of machine restrictions. Steve's High Pass Filter should help as well.

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
I'm going to need to wait until I get the real machines back. This is just too painful. But if the processed selection sounds a little funny, I bet I know why. There's something wrong with the "room tone" segment before the words "Chapter One." There is a crackling or crunchy pop...

Re: Blank spots recording Skype
I apologize for not seeing this message at first. Dueling posts. I don't mean the bouncing red recording meter. I mean the blue waves on the time line. Ratty illustration below. See the "hole" or place where the waves flatten out? I would expect that to sound like a sudden silence in the ...

Re: HOW TO record from portable digital audio recorder via e
Yes, the Desperation Method is to play the recorder next to the Mac internal microphone. In a quiet room that can work surprisingly well. Figure out where your microphone is by scratching around with your fingernail and watch the bouncing sound meters. Once you find it (mine is just to the left of m...
