Re: Poor Sound from Computer Speakers

When you record in Audacity, the red sound meters should not go much over -6 and the blue waves should hover around 50%.

Is that more or less what your screen looks like during a recording?

Re: Unable To Open Export Dialogue Box ver. 2.0.5

Re: Export Edited File to M4V or MP3 Requires Plug-In

Two, actually, one for MP3 and one for M4A (Audacity will not export video). There is a third way. You export as WAV and convert inside iTunes. This is the Lame software for MP3: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#How_do_I_download_and_install_the_LAME_MP3_encode...

Re: Aup file bugged out :(

The date and time thing sometimes works, but you should know each snippet is one channel and they alternate Left and Right. So in addition to getting all of them in the right order past > future, the violins on the left may not always stay on the left. Also, the AUP file keeps track of edits, so if ...

Re: Aup file bugged out :(

It was right. The file is 128KB of zeros.

This is a fancy graphic version of what a very short AUP file looks like.

Re: Cant record without my usb mic

Use the Audacity control next to the microphone symbol and reduce the volume.

I've never had Audacity do that with the built-in microphone. That's usually pretty well behaved.

When you look at your Audacity toolbars, does it say Built-In Microph.... Like the illustration?

Re: How to record with two microphones?

If you elect to use an actual mixer like the Peavey PV6 that I use... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PV6USB ... that is a mixer and you can produce a finished show in Audacity with nothing further required other than cut off trash at the beginning and end. But it is a bit harder to understan...

Re: How to record with two microphones?

I almost always get a hostile and condescending reply! We can do that if you wish. You should know that if you try a USB sound adapter such as the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 that it's not a mixer. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Scarlett2i2/ You will always get a stereo show with one microphone ...

Re: Cant record without my usb mic

Yes i did all that and it didnt work. Wait.... What didn't work? If Skype works then the System Preferences test has to work. You can't have one without the other. Let us know specifically if you got the blue ball sound meter to jump. Close Audacity for these tests. These are all system level tests...
