Re: Completely New To This
I feel quite stupid. Calm down. It's an interesting challenge. You're "suffering from" using a telephone for the work. The telephone has decades of development and refinement with the single, paramount goal of getting your voice in good order to the person at the other end. It has tailore...

Re: Completely New To This
Still out there? [knocking on screen] Do you have a personal recorder on anything? I have a cheapie iPod I got at CostCo and I think it has a Personal Recorder. This may be the event I've been waiting for to try it out with a commonly available microphone. The reason I've been reevaluating always re...

Re: Completely New To This
I simply call the show's 800-number 2 minutes before my show is due to be played and the engineer places me on hold until the show begins. I hang up at the end. A live phoner. I'm impressed. How long is the show? Assume you just got finished recording an episode and you have a finished, polished so...

I wish I could be more helpful You have been insanely helpful. I have a crystal clear idea in my head of what you're doing and how. We're good to go. You should go chew on the above posts and I'm going to think about this a little. Note we all stressed a quiet room. Ian (Mr. Longest Post) was tryin...

Re: Editing tools suddenly stop working on Windows 8
If you have been using Pause to halt on an edit point and you can't do that any more, then you're suddenly going to need Labels, drag-select, and Zoom, which is how Audacity identifies small segments of sound. Audacity doesn't have edit markers like video editors. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ma...

The question mark indicated the poster had no idea what Parallels was.

Re: Want to hear playback song but only record my voice
The overdubbing setting in Audacity does that. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [X] Overdub... De-select everything else. There's a Windows thing in here as well. You should not be using Stereo Mix for any of this. Audacity will manage the sound pathways without any help. http://manual.au...

Re: Editing tools suddenly stop working on Windows 8
Parallels allows you to run Windows on a Mac. Worse, it allows both Windows and Mac to run at once giving you two different computers struggling for the same keyboard and mouse. Audacity is a simple audio program and really likes running on simple computers. Audacity also has troubles dealing with n...

Re: Buzz noise at beginning of vocal after you export
We know the problem is burned into the export because it's audible on the posted file. The noise sounds like "Room Tone." An open studio microphone with no performer exhibiting normal quiet MicPre hiss and a touch of 60/120 Hz buzz. So it's a real thing and Audacity is getting it from some...
