Re: Recording electric guitar

And an associated note: When you try to record the cabinet, you're also recording the room it's in. So it's going to sound like your Steve Linn® cabinet plus your Continental Homes® garage.

Re: Set up for recording from CD

Rip it with WMP directly
Yes, but from an earlier note, this would try to preserve any copy protection, whereas the other methods would not.

Re: how can I make a sample sound like a car pasing or a mot

Isn't there a Sliding Pitch Shift or something like that? Can't you get close with that? You may need to do it in multiple passes because a real Doppler shift gets much worse when the car/bus/train is closer than further away. You may also need the Envelope Tool which lets you get louder the closer ...

Re: Completely New To This

By the way, there is a one-button solution. You hire the station to record your show and upload it to your payment server. Nothing changes except you write them checks, the clients write you checks and the station loses the show. They may decide the show is valuable to them enough to pay you. That's...

Re: Completely New To This

I suppose the first thing I would ask is that you answer questions when I ask them. I'm not being rhetorical. Simple, home microphone installs depend on the computer, so for a good recommendation, we need to know about that. What kind is it and by whom? How old? Model numbers are good so we can look...

Re: Improving MP3 Quality

I think you have the symptom backwards. Older recordings were produced preserving the artist expression, voice management and dynamic range at the expense of overall loudness. Old CDs were produced with the zero VU point of -17dB which was the old standard. It's still the standard, but nobody pays a...

That was my semi-funny joke of putting the heavy winter coats back in the room with you to get additional damping. Koz

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

We know why the room sounds like that. It's not fully soundproofed. Each square soundproofing panel is about 1/3M on a side, but there are not enough of them to cover each surface, so they are spread out: panel, bare wall, panel, bare wall in both directions. On average, only about 2/3 or less of ea...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

Does it sound OK to you? You're up to the point where opinions are going to amount to noise. Not the noise or hiss in the show, I mean out of four people, two will think it's too boomy and the other two may think it's not boomy enough. There is no longer one thing everybody can point to as an obviou...

NO PROB.
Of course there was a problem. It was supposed to happen automatically and it didn't on your machine.
Why do you think that is?
