It's not a mystery why they do this, either. If you have a 3 by 4 checkerboard of people in your Zoom, what would happen if they all had air conditioning or computer fan noise in the conference?

Re: [ASK]Converting audio to 0.1khz to 8khz
Why the restriction of not using the High and Low Pass filters? The question seems to be arbitrarily limiting. You can do this job with Effect > Filter Curve, but that's just a fancy way of creating a custom low pass filter. It is low pass. Let tones lower than a set pitch go through. You are going ...

That's for a Mac, but the conditions are similar for Windows.
We more or less know why this is happening, but the solution may take a little detective work.

Re: Audio fades after 3 seconds while recording again.
That's the signature distortion of Automatic Noise Reduction. Any sound that's constant for a set amount of time must be "background noise" and get rid of it. Auto Noise Reduction can work OK for speech, but hates music for obvious reasons. Audacity doesn't apply filters, effects, or corre...

Re: Installed Audacity, microphone settings broken?
Forcing it to use mono (downmix to mono, etc.) makes it sound weirdly hollow and tinny. That's the phrase that pays. Your microphone or microphone connection is damaged. As a temporary move, you can Split Stereo To Mono (don't mix down) and delete the low volume track. The remaining single track sh...

Re: Improving digital piano recording
How are you recording? Exactly. This is not a simple problem. If your keyboard is MIDI, you're really recording the MIDI piano in the computer, not the keyboard. If you connect a MIDI keyboard to three different computers, you could get three different piano sounds. If you are recording the keyboar...

Re: Crackling sound when recording from ZOOM H4N
I just don’t know what setting to adjust. The only one that might work is Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Buffer. You have the best of all possible worlds because you have a way to make very high quality recordings without the computer. The people with straight, simple USB microphones and...

there is still a bit of background "hiss" And that's the soundcard. Soundcards are made cutting as many corners as possible. Nobody is going to pay extra for low-noise parts. I recorded a video with the camera Good idea. I have zero experience with the video services on my phone. Try this...

I just now put that together. GamingGal That's your espresso-on-tap, steam-driven, hot and cold running beer gaming computer isn't it? The one with the forty-two processor graphics card and extra cooling to keep the whole thing from smoking itself. Did I hit it? Can you borrow your mum's Mac for th...
