Re: Can't start recording

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#pauses Past machine resource problems, Overdubbing is a primary cause of audio that starts before zero. That's how Audacity compensates for Recording Latency and it does it as long as that Recording selection is checked. If you ...

Re: 4 channel MS+XY to 5.1 surround

will this be enough for a true 5.1 setup No. True 5.1 has four microphones one each in the four principle quadrants (Front-Left, Front-Right..etc), a (0.1) microphone carrying the rumble track associated with, but not necessarily generated from the others, and a Center track generally carrying the ...

Re: Can't start recording

Are you trying to overdub — record your voice over an existing track?

If not, then Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Overdub... (deselect) > OK.

Re: Echo/reverb-like sound.

Can't do anything with echoes. Number one. It also sounds crackly and overloaded which is number two. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't record the show in your mum's kitchen.) -- 2. Overload and Clipping (So...

Re: Record from a audio stream?

No. It's not that easy. There are settings that have to be changed.

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... puter.html

Even better, there are some computers that don't support doing that at all. It's not a guaranteed service.

Re: No Project Menu to Import Audio

from what I have read Where? If you already have a music track as WAV or MP3, File > Import should work just fine. That will give you two tracks, one with your voice and the other with the music on. They should play at once and you can tune each one for proper mix. Audacity will smash both tracks t...

Re: How to get an AUP file from the _data file

Maybe not so thankfully. If the shows were edited in any way, no. The work in the_DATA folders is permanently scrambled. If they are two straight recordings, you might be able to use disaster recovery, but there's no guarantee that the left-right positioning of stereo sound will be correct. http://m...

Re: Recording System Sounds with Steinberg UR22?

..found nothing...
That usually means it can't be easily done. Game recording is usually done with Fraps or other purpose built software. Games and Skype use up all the computer's sound channels and Audacity can only use what he computer supplies.
