Re: Unbalanced input signal
If you X close a track, doesn't yours display an empty work window like the attached? It is true if you File > Close (Save Changes??) on a single track, Audacity will clear itself back to Audacity-File-Window-Help way up at the top of the Mac screen. File > New to open up a fresh Audacity. Are you a...

Re: 4 channel MS+XY to 5.1 surround
Try it. Set up the recorder on sticks say, outside, and walk around it speaking. What happens to all the various components when you do that? Announce where you are as you go. After you mix the tracks down, do you get a good theatrical version of real life, or do you get oddities and artifacts like ...

Re: 4 channel MS+XY to 5.1 surround
I'm calling it the rumble track, but it's really the 0.1 track in the 5.1 universe. Many microphones roll off the low frequencies, particularly if you're trying to shoot voices. The Low Cut Filter gets serious wear in Hollywood, but that doesn't do you any good when you're trying to simulate this: h...

This conference room had corrected air ducts. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/JMASoundShoot.jpg http://www.kozco.com/tech/MicTests/studioLayout.jpg I go through a great deal of effort to get that room for sound shoots and we have done video shoots and interviews in there. I talked to some of ...

Re: Unbalanced input signal
Click the slider and it should say 1.00x. Slide it until it does. That's the same as the normal play button.

Re: Unbalanced input signal
The Mac will shift between different sound devices in real time, so technically you could have them both connected. One, for example doing the recording and the other doing the playback. Audacity will not like that very much. Restart Audacity after you change USB devices. You can also Transport > Re...

Re: How to improve my low quality audio?
Audacity doesn't do real time processing, so you're stuck with successive approximation.

Re: How to improve my low quality audio?
I'm out. The posted sample was overly Noise Reduced and I can hear the wobbling sound in some of the words. Anything I do to make the woman's sound less harsh kills the man's voice. So even if I do find a filter to help, you would have to go through the show one dialog line at a time and only patch ...
