Re: Removing background vocals from Audacity recording?
I have used a boom microphone that allowed "tuning" a little bit. If you pull off the foam cover, you discover that the microphone has a tiny scoop arrangement and you can point the scoop to your noise, mouth or chin. Then put the foam back on for pop and blast suppression. http://www.swee...

Re: Removing background vocals from Audacity recording?
Noise Gate can be a little rough to use and make it sound natural. In its simplest form, it takes quiet sounds in a performance and reduces them. The problem is figuring out which sounds are "quiet." Obviously, if you have someone talking in the background facing the wrong way, their voice...

Re: Edit multiple voice recordings
Not in Audacity, no. It's a popular Feature Request. "Make me sound like an announcer, little girl, my friend, a famous person, etc."
The best we can do is sound normal and then computer voices or martians. Not other people.

Re: 3.5mm headset to XLR adaptors please
i am not much of a DIY guy. Then the alternate method may be handier. Record each microphone on its own computer. Anything that will do a Skype call should work so people with netbooks or other smaller Windows machines should be able to handle it. At the end of the show, Export the sound files and ...

Re: 3.5mm headset to XLR adaptors please
I did think about that. The problem is you can't just regulate 48v down by sticking a couple of diodes in there. 48 volts is intentionally a very weak voltage so it doesn't interfere with the microphone signal. It would be like trying to get the electricity from your hair brush (thousands of volts) ...

Re: Increasing New Audio Length
Start with Generate > Silence: 120 minutes.
That will give you a two-hour silent guide track and then you can add other tracks underneath that as you go.
