Re: Click & pop hunting tips needed
To address a problem you had about two-thirds of the way up the thread, no the blue waves do not have to "fly by." I set Auto Update the Display when I'm recording to make sure I'm getting a proper performance, but I turn that off immediately when editing. I'll put the view exactly where I...

Re: Any opinions about Nonlinear-Compressor XI.ny ?
It might be. The process is more difficult than it seems. Every few years, someone would come up with a different way to process the broadcast sound chain. CBS Labs, Dorough, etc. The last one (I forget the name) built the companding into the electronics for the broadcast transmitter. That was a ver...

Re: Latest Audacity for iMac
You didn't actually install Audacity. If you don't install it, it will try to run anyway and create all sorts of problems. It's a feature request to make it stop doing that.

Re: Saved and not exported :/
You should not abbreviate when you post. The only thing we know about you is from your postings so the richer the better. "I double clicked 'TheyMightBeGiants.aup', but the show didn't open right. I got an Audacity window with a million different clips in it." That covers several different...

Re: Any opinions about Nonlinear-Compressor XI.ny ?
The description sounds like Chris's Compressor. Non-linear compander is how off-air broadcast sound chains work. Companding is determined by the show itself. "These are the legal specifications and requirements for the air show and it doesn't matter what the original show was." They're dif...

Re: Scarlett plug-in suite
Audacity doesn't do anything in real time, so don't fall in love with pre-filtering your voice. Everything is post production.

Re: Sony ECM-MS907 Mic Help
The plug on this microphone is not compatible with computer soundcards whether they're on laptops or desktops. It's designed to have a sound signal on a portion of the plug usually reserved for a computer microphone's battery connection. So without a Sony recorder to plug it into, the best you can d...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Nobody can follow written dialog with 40 different people all at once. I can't make it past about four. Can we assume this isn't Doctor Zhivago?
Can you time share some of the voices as the chapters go by? This isn't a radio play.

Re: Saved and not exported :/
It was not an error unless the computer did something odd. Find the AUP file with the show name and launch it. It should launch Audacity and automatically put together all those snippets and fragments back into your show.

Re: Problems with Scarlett 2i2
Lots of people use these things, so it should be an adjustment — assuming your Scarlett is OK.
