Re: What can I do to reduce the echo on my recording?
There are no "clean" ways to get rid of echoes in software. You have the studio from Hell. You didn't use the magic words "Acoustic Foam" and you didn't gasp at the price, so you probably have the wrong stuff. Shipping foam isn't that good. You are a candidate for the Kitchen Tab...

Re: Quality Troubleshooting
In general you only need to worry about stuff relatively close to the microphone. The desk and parts. Those lighting stanchions back there don't matter. What happens if you hit one of those pipes with a pencil?

Re: Quality Troubleshooting
You might be able to use the structure of what you got, just go visit JoAnn Fabrics and get several yards of something heavy like denim or flannel. Monks Cloth and burlap would work. That may cost more than furniture blankets, but you can customize the colours and patterns. I may be the only shopper...

Re: Quality Troubleshooting
That works. There's still some what sounds like air conditioning or wind noise in the background, but it's so low in volume it doesn't make any difference. This is your clip fully mastered with gentle Noise Reduction of the Beast. Tascam Audio Technica 2035-Mastered-NR.wav TascamMastered.png A word ...

Re: Quality Troubleshooting
see if I should be using the fancy low cut and -10db pad switches on the AT-2035. The -10dB pad is to keep the microphone from damaging very loud sounds such as playing your bugle into it. The low cut filter does the same thing as the first step in Mastering. Effect > Filter Curve > Low Rolloff for...

Re: High Sierra ok?
Audacity 2.4.2 seems to work well on my two High Sierra machines. I get an occasional little reminder that I really should go to Mojave. I think you can go as far as Mojave without running into too many difficulties. Catalina is the first very serious change. Catalina is a "new" OS. Increa...

Re: Direct recording by playing FLAC files
File formatting only works when you're a file. The instant you stream, the sound takes the restrictions of the stream. We should remember that compressed formats do not lose their compression damage when you stream. Your ratty MP3 is always going to sound like a ratty MP3, even if you capture it and...

Re: Newbie Problem - Can't Record Stereo
As Trebor, above. Audacity gets sound from Windows, not the device. There's a step in the middle that's not always obvious.
