Re: Audacity 2.0.5 help
Most karaoke conversions don't work. Stereo songs have to be perfectly recorded and not have effects added to the center voices. Anything else gives a bad vocal removal or no removal at all. We only just started calling it Vocal Remover. It used to be called Center Pan Remover because that's what it...

Re: Blue Yeti laptop fan noise
Your worst problem is the inability to remove the computer from the microphone because of USB cable lengths. Six feet. That's it. Build a wall of pillows or blankets between you and the laptop or make a wall of books. Record in a room with heavy drapes or carpets or both. If you're using the cardioi...

Re: Reducing the size of a wav file
No, and nobody else can, either. WAVes are point for point representations of the original sound. Anything you do to mess with that relationship stops being WAV, or damages the show sound. For two to one compression, you might be able to use, I think FLAC files can do reductions like that with littl...

Re: Unable to Record in Stereo with Audio Interface
The two connections on the front don't switch like the ones on the rear do. The system is not recording mono. It's making mono from left-only on the device and recording that. Did you find a way of restoring factory settings on the US-366? Or it just a matter of returning all the knobs to neutral po...

Re: squeal while recording
There's no telling what the microphone is going to appear like when you plug it in. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Does that show something that could be your microphone and does it vanish when you unplug the microphone? Ignore Audacity for the moment. Let's go right for st...

Re: Removing the Piano from a Track
Audacity has no good tools to split a performance into individual instruments and voices and that's what you need to delete or manage them. Each instrument has the note it's playing, yes, but it's richness and pleasant sound comes from the overtones. These are the overtones and their frequencies of ...

Oh. One more. Audacity > Preferences > Recording.
De-select everything — unless you're overdubbing. You didn't say what the show was.

Re: squeal while recording
realised then that I could buy new USB cord and that would solve the problem. Yes, the snowball does not have a captive cord. Any A/B USB cable will do it. Macs are pretty resistant to that feedback thing unless you like running speakers rather than headphones. That's usually a bad idea any time yo...
