Re: Remove background music of falling utensils

Audacity can't split apart a performance into individual instruments or voices. The silverware is a permanent performer in this show.

Re: De-esssssssing & B's and P's - best equaliser for this?

Effect > Equalizer: [X] Draw Curves
That will give you the grown-up version of the equalizer where you can draw whatever curve you want. As you drag the window bigger, the details in the display get better.

Although what you probably want is a "de-esser."

Re: Echo on playback of imported files.

Sound Devices 552.

Can I have one? I'll take yours if you're not using it.

How did you get the presentation into the Mac and which Mac? I'm typing on a MacBook Pro 15", specifically purchased because it will interface directly and perfectly with an analog mixer. Newer Macs won't do that.

Re: reducing background noise from mono recording

You should consider what you would do if you have no show. There are no tools I know of to rescue this performance. Number Four: The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't record the show in your mum's kitchen.) -- 2...

Re: Need help removing Echo from sound track

That's even worse than my echo sample. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/EchoSample.mp3 I don't know of any way to solve either one. People still do this because it's the only way to get reliable, clear sound. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/microphoneNewsCluster.jpg Number one: The Four Horse...

Re: Blue Snowball Microphone barely picking up audio.

Position 2 of the switch on the rear of the Snowball is for the purpose of making the sound quieter if you have a very loud performance that could damage the recording. Position 1 is for normal volume directionality and position 3 is omni-directional — all around. Most people need position 1.

Re: Recording el.guitar via USB, no input sound

That looks like something I use to record phone calls. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/olympus_TP7.jpg On the right. Does it show up in Windows? If the USB device doesn't appear in the list of Windows devices, then Audacity is never going to see it. Later Windows versions give you a little sound ...

Re: Recording audio from mixer to laptop

You can get the User Guide and the sales brochure from here: http://www.soundcraft.com/products/product.aspx?pid=25 On page 21 of the User Guide (attached) is a picture of how to connect a cassette or DAT machine. Those are the connections you probably want for your application. I hate multi-buss mi...
