Re: Is Audacity version 2.4.2 compatible with Windows 7? and Boosting dynamic mic power questions
I'm better off buying a newer recorder with XLR mic power/capability. Most home 1/8" microphones are electronic and have to be powered somehow. Plug In Power sends computer 5 volts up the mic cable to run things and then the microphone sends voice signals back down to be recorded. Second pictu...

Re: Stereo Mix doesn't record with Microsoft Teams
Is there a way to disable this exclusive control? That's how they work. They need to keep all the computers in the conference from fighting with each other. Everybody wants to record a conference, so many companies offer cloud meeting recording. That's microsoft's version. Do you use a free-standin...

Re: Unwanted voice change!
I used Effect > Change Speed.I pulled up the Change pitch option
Instead of 1.1 as a speed conversion, use 1.088. That's a more exact match between the two speeds.
Use 0.918 to go the other way.

Re: cut and record mp3 with audacity without any quality loss?
MP3 gets its small, efficient files by rearranging sound tones and leaving some of them out. Sometimes, you can do simple cutting with a pure MP3 editor such as MP3 Cut and MP3 Direct Cut. But if you do anything that upsets the balance of sound tones (bass boost, noise reduction), file management ha...

Re: G-track pro static/interference problem
Did you tell them it was only noisy on some patterns? If they check it on Cardioid only, it may pass testing.

All that and you don't have to change anything. This does work as it is.

Re: G-track pro static/interference problem
People can have noise problem with home microphones because they're too far away, but getting closer can produce popping and vocal air distortion.
You can try getting closer but pushing the microphone to the left or right (B)

Re: G-track pro static/interference problem
Microphones get their different patterns (usually) by switching different electronics in and out. Cardioid or kidney pattern receives sound mostly from the front. Usually where they put the company name. This is the common one. Many microphones only have this pattern. https://www.kozco.com/tech/auda...

Re: Error Code -9986
Do it in the Mac first. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. The microphone has to appear there and the sound meter has to jump. Do you have it that far?

Re: What can I do to reduce the echo on my recording?
There is one other possibility, too. I'm a couple of blocks away from a rug and carpet store. Raid the dumpster/bin in the back after dark and make off with carpet remnants and ends. Build the booth out of that. You can do this all by weight. If a stiff wind will blow your soundproofing over, you pr...
