I'll leave the hammering up to you. I patched your first submission half-way through the room tone segment. Attached is Effect > Noise Removal settings I used. That gentle correction doesn't affect the voice, but puts the hum and hiss levels into the -60dB range which is enough.

Re: iMac, maverick, audacity not working
I can't tell where they're getting this "3D" thing from. It looks like a normal headset adapter like my Startech units. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/olympus_TP7.jpg Close Audacity. Unplug, wait and plug the adapter into the Mac with no other cables. Apple (upper left) > System Prefer...

Re: LAME will not install on my Mac (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Garageband makes my internal fan go NUTS. That's not good news. The fan system goes on full when it loses part or all of the System. Or the machine gets hot, but that's pretty rare. Does it rev up for takeoff when you launch Garageband or only after a while. What's the machine? I'm typing on a 2013...

Re: Mic Levels Max, out levels 33% Creative Sound Blaster R3
Go into the Blaster setups and look for a Mic Boost setting. Sometimes it's called +20dB.
I'm assuming you plugged a microphone into the pink (Mic-In) connection of the blaster.

Re: hooking up hardware to record vocals
I found the first hitch. The Voicemaster is apparently a discontinued product making documentation a little rough. You elected not to buy the digital board for the Voicemaster? Let's take this in pieces. Can you plug your microphone into the mixer and get that to work all the way through to Audacity...

Re: hooking up hardware to record vocals
Thank you for your effort to include pictures. Very welcome. We can do it with web pages, too. Also part numbers. Big on part numbers. All that and a clear description of the job and we're good to go. Perfect timing. I have to leave for a while, but the elves span ten time zones and somebody may be ...

Re: help trying to fix mp3 files
Audacity uses a bitrate of 128 as its stereo compression default. It works OK. It works super well if the show is mono. The break point for stereo is 64 and mono is 32. Below those numbers the sound is always pretty awful. That's assuming a perfect WAV or AIFF or original production or show. If you ...

Re: help trying to fix mp3 files
Audacity opens sound files at the rate they were recorded. I'm struggling with a small, hand-held recorder that produces files at 32000, not 44100. I/We can change it by moving the little rate window at the lower left, but I don't know any way to do that in Chains.

The left channel is on top.
What problem are you solving with this? Do you have a damaged stereo show?

Do you have the sound of a show and the buzzer at the same time?
