Re: iMac, maverick, audacity not working

Does it see that in the INPUT side of the System Preferences panel? That name doesn't necessarily mean anything. That's just whatever the manufacturer of the chip thought might be informative. Some of the higher end makers burn their own name on there. Some leave the chip default name (USB AUDIO COD...

Re: Newbie Help Coping Effects from one Track to another

Audacity doesn't keep an effects list other than UNDO and if you closed the project, the UNDO goes away.

If you haven't closed the project yet, UNDO will step you back through the effects you applied. That may give you a hint what you did.

Re: Won't recognize a USB mic.

Does Windows see it? It has to show up in Windows Control Panels before Audacity gets it.
Any marks on it? Maker? Part numbers?

Re: LAME will not install on my Mac (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7

I've had my Macbook Pro checked out at Apple. 13", 15", 17"? How exactly? Are you close enough to a Genius Bar to demonstrate the problem in person? How did you word it? If you didn't include exact steps to reproduce the problem they may never find it, particularly after two minutes....

Re: Record multiple users on several computers

Audacity out of the box should be able to do all these jobs with the exception of making an MP3. Audacity will not do that without adding the Lame software (copyright issues). http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame Microphones are always the sticking point. Cell...

Re: hooking up hardware to record vocals

I think I figured out the interconnect. You'll need a 1/4" stereo cable. Male Tip/Ring/Sleeve on both ends. Plug one into the mixer Line-In just under the XLR connector. I think it says Line 1. The other end goes on the back of the preamp in the -10dBv socket. If it fails and the preamp seems t...

Re: hooking up hardware to record vocals

The Mixer supplies Phantom Power (if you need it) through a switch on the rear. This will get you going while you mess with the mic preamp. Is the idea of the preamp to apply effects and filters while you sing? That seems like a grand idea until you try to do something fancy with your voice. It's al...

Re: MP3 quality

However what I'm noticing after publishing is that when it gets converted to an MP3 file parts of the recording are going loud and soft. A few more words there. You convert to MP3 and then play it in Windows or Audacity and it does that, or you send it up to the publisher servers and then it goes n...

Re: Sound Quality Feedback

Drag-Select most of the Room Tone segment. Stay away from the edges. Effect > Noise Removal: Get Profile. Then select a larger portion of the show (or the whole show) and run Noise Removal again with the settings in that picture. > OK. Since you got the majority of the sound trash solved, correcting...
