Re: I saved DURING a crash. No recovery option. Silence on tracks.
The tracks with the raw voice audio were untampered That's not what I meant. I meant the thumb drive or external drive that has a complete copy of all the show clips and files completely divorced from Audacity. One of the Audacity failures is to open all your layers, channels, clips, and segments s...

Re: Getting rid of background static on imported audio voice recordings
You got really close to the magic phrase: "Help me clean up." That's usually the end of the world right there. The noise reduction tools depend on you being able to find and identify clean spots in the files. If there aren't any, they don't work. That may be why the Googles didn't turn up ...

Maybe you're changing the wrong thing. Try Effect > Change Speed at -14%.
They're much more similar, but Accent 1 now lasts 14% longer.

I do have an illustration. That's an actual soundstage. It's technically not in Hollywood. It's somewhere in The Valley. I didn't write down the location. They were doing an ordinary meeting (flu shots?) and I wandered into one of the empty stages and took the picture. https://www.kozco.com/pix/Soun...

Re: I saved DURING a crash. No recovery option. Silence on tracks.
It's good to have backups of all the original works including voice acting. Export those as WAV files. It should be possible to go back to that basket of sound files and clips and put the show back together if you had to. I still have original voice files from years ago. Periodically down the editin...

Re: I saved DURING a crash. No recovery option. Silence on tracks.
Does it matter if the end product is an mp3 anyway? Every time you make an MP3, you get compression sound damage. If you make an MP3 from an MP3, you get two damages. If you make it to three, it can turn the show into trash. saving an entire aup file Bad choice of words. It may seem like you're sav...

Those blankets should work. That looks like the version from my local Harbor Freight. You can hang one on the wall behind you and pull the green screen over it. I expect the lav to work, too, if you can make the room go away. Green screen is not that easy to pull off, either. Back or rim lighting is...

Re: Orphan Block Files
Do you use iCloud or other cloud storage? Audacity doesn't like those very much. You can shuffle files back and forth OK, but Audacity needs its drives to be local, perfect, and screaming fast. Cloud drives all have internet pathway decisions and connection speed problems.

Re: Orphan Block Files
Things pop up on occasion, often it's taken care of by restarting the computer. That's an alarm bell. Computers aren't supposed to need restarting occasionally to work right. You have something broken or unstable. Do you keep super good, frequent backups? Are you on Time Machine? Automatic? Have yo...

Re: Is Audacity version 2.4.2 compatible with Windows 7? and Boosting dynamic mic power questions
Are you using your DR05 as an actual recorder? Or do you have a live connection to the computer? I started to ask that because a lot of computer noise and distortion can be helped by simply not recording on the computer. Record on the recorder and then transfer the clean sound files over for editing...
