To the left of the top track there's a little menu drop-down (black arrow) > Make Stereo Track.

To "Output Device." If it starts using words you don't understand, I'm not going to understand them either. I'm a Mac elf, so we need to wait for the Windows people.

Re: help for a brand new user (?)
Say that again and use different words.
"I want to split the first minute of a song into its own file?"
"I want to split the Left and Right of a stereo show into their own files?"

Re: natural echo created, how to remove?
I am attempting recording stereo from an Internet source to mp3 So that wasn't quite true, was it? You're actually trying to do live production by mixing a hot microphone with your download or playback. Very different. You should be able to get that to work by listening to the mixer with your headp...

Re: natural echo created, how to remove?
And just to cover the bases, once you get an echo in your show, you're dead. There are no Audacity tools to remove echo. Koz

Re: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input
Whether you want to record or play, Audacity has to go through Windows services and it's possible for them not to match. It's also possible you're not trying to play audio properly at all. Make sure the Audacity Output Device is selected. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html http...

And one other quick item. This is not a help desk, it's a forum. I'm choosing to share all that with you and in turn, you might want to share how it went. Details are good. What's the podcast address? That's how we know what to tell the next poster. Koz

Garageband wasn't this bad before the last upgrade To Mavericks? Any way to Time Machine your way back to a better time? Mavericks caused a number of unfortunate problems. Do you have 10.9.4? That was the latest upgrade where they fixed some of the more serious earlier problems. The first Mavericks...

Re: hooking up hardware to record vocals
That's good progress. You turned the problem from "anything" to an interaction problem between the microphone and the mixer. Connecting the mixer to the preamp is where I'm having trouble. But not the only trouble as you found. You didn't say anything at all about the microphone. What is i...
