Re: Need help making voices louder
AUP is a list of Audacity instructions and words. It's not a sound file. But I think I can work with this anyway. No. If you can't make out the voices by just listening to the performance, then we're not going to be able to help you. Audacity can't do forensics like those people on TV. There are som...

Re: Overdubbing issues
Chances are good you're not recording your mixer. You're recording What-U-Hear or Stereo-Mix, the setting you need to record internet shows with Audacity. Those two job settings are different. Select the mixer for recording in the Device Toolbar. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.h...

Re: downloading audacity for windows 7
One more note. You will almost certainly also need the other two software packages, LAME and FFMpeg. Get both of those from the same place to make sure they match.

Re: downloading audacity for windows 7

But no, if you have any second thoughts about opening this software, you shouldn't do it. If you have good virus protection software, you can tur...

Re: removing silence from recorded streams
Sometimes Audacity will try to open up advanced sound files it doesn't really understand. That can give you chipmunk voices. Install the FFMpeg software to help with that. You can have a much more serious problem with a computer not running fast enough for good recordings. That can give you chipmunk...

Re: Recording on 2 Tracks
Once you get the stereo show with the performers panned like that, you can use the little drop-down menu to the left of the tracks and "Split Stereo Track." That will let you edit each side independently of the other. Then you can use that same menu to Make Stereo Track and then Tracks > S...

Re: Sudden slowdown
Are you suddenly running out of hard drive space? Audio and video take up a lot of memory and drive space. If you've been editing for a while, you may have run out of elbow room. Also running a lot of applications at the same time as Audacity can cause problems, too.
