Re: Fuzz
There are two fuzzes. There is distortion which an old supervisor called putting "hair on the audio." Then there's straight noise sometimes called white or pink noise. That's ffffffffffff when you stop talking. Which one do you have? Internal soundcards have an uphill battle. They have to ...

And no, I don't think they will pass it the way it is. Record a short clip and don't speak. Effect > Amplify (Don't OK) and just look at that first number. That's your noise floor and I think it's much too high. Quiet is larger numbers.

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
Noise Removal isn't the angelic gift it seems to be. In order to keep it from destroying your voice, it actually turns off during words. If your background hiss is bad enough, it will make you sound like a snake. You have a pronounced sharp, piercing quality to your words. Did you equalize after you...

Post a mono clip here on the forum. Pick very high quality MP3 (256) and do it BEFORE you mess with filters and effects. Say a few words at normal volume and then hold your breath for a bit.

Re: What to Edit with?! Speakers, Headphones, and What Type?
There is another trick. Listen to music that you know and listen to several types of music. Listen to more than one headphone if you can. I lucked out and had access to several different headphones at work and I sat in a corner and tried them all. Of course, I can't find the notes, but I do remember...

Re: Volume too low on USB mic - pre-amp help? Mic level vs l
Right. So it's an Art M-1. USB microphones carry the preamplifier and digital converters right inside the microphone. Part of their charm is you don't have to worry about anything other than plugging the mic in and turning it on. Just a note that you should plug in and turn the microphone on and onl...

Re: 100's of files instead of 1. Need help please
You saved an Audacity Project. A Project consists of an AUP text file that tells Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the _data folder. You need both. Double click on the AUP file and Audacity will launch back to the original show. Then you can File > Export a stand-alone sound file. If you ne...

Re: What to Edit with?! Speakers, Headphones, and What Type?
You missed one step. Choose equipment you can stand to listen to. The Hollywood sound people all use Sony MDR-7506 headphones. They do reveal all, but I can't stand to listen to them for much over five minutes. They have other attributes as well. You can listen with one muff, they have one cable, et...

Re: Bass sync issues from online transfers
It's not the software. It's the hardware. Everybody knows 44100 is the sample rate default for Audacity music, but what if the soundcard maker was having a bad day and the system was really running at 44100.5? Or 44099.5? The longer you record, the further off they're going to be from someone with a...
