Re: AAC file in iTunes into Audacity
I believe Apple discontinued the Fair-Play DRM scheme years ago. The split was if you paid the traditional 99c, you had FairPlay and it wouldn't let you copy, but if you paid $1.99, you paid for the music and the license to copy. Apple found a way to make a buck out of it — oddly enough. These are ...

Re: Hiss when recording.
I'm experimenting with tiny USB recorder devices. I'm buying a number of them to make sure I get one that works.

Re: AAC file in iTunes into Audacity
I think it's also true you can't do that with Fair-Play copy protected files.

Re: AAC file in iTunes into Audacity
I don't think Audacity knows what AAC is without also adding the FFMpeg software.

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
Yes, and you should make the meters bigger. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg The reason you are setting your peaks at 50% or -6 on the flashing meters is to allow for presentation, artistic expression... and accidents. Please understand that nobody is going to come out with a stic...

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
Past that I can't listen to you here in the restaurant, sipping my McCafé, you should tell me . Are your red sound meters bouncing up toward -6? Do the blue wave tips hover around 50% and never all the way up? That's a normal vocal recording. The sound meters are terrifically important. You can make...

Did you notice the fffffffff is gone? Now we're hearing normal room noises behind you. We're also hearing popping PP sounds which means you're too close or you're not using a black tennis racket-shaped pop and blast filter like Wynonna. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg But your volume lev...

Re: Hiss when recording.
Microphone hiss is a juggling act between the microphone and the microphone preamplifier. Your Preamplifier is inside the Xonar. Are you sure you're not recording the laptop microphone? Make sure your Xonar is selected in the Audacity Device Toolbar. If you can't find it, remember to plug in your Xo...

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
Another straight blue line. It's not that the microphone has such a high noise level. It's that you put your voice volume down there to match. What do you do differently between the podcast with lumpy wavy blue lines and these postings which have almost no heartbeat at all. Post a podcast clip. It's...
