Re: Recording both line-in and mic but hearing only line-in

Overdubbing has its advantages. You can fluff and not kill the whole song. You can keep recording the music bed and patching and polishing it until you get it perfect. Then use that as a bed and record the vocal parts again and again until they're perfect. Obviously, you don't have to stop at one vo...

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks

@The_zatanna
Where are you in the process? Have you submitted anything yet? I got your latest to pass what I perceive to be AudioBook Compliance and I need to start telling you how I did it.

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks

One quick note. That's Monitor Mode in the picture. You can go into full record to do a sound test, or you can Control-Click on the red recording meters > Start Monitoring. The meters will wake up and start measuring the sound coming into Audacity. It's not obvious it's going to do that and it's rea...

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks

Here's my Startech working with a plain electret microphone. The Mac System panel with the blue ball sound meter and the Audacity red Record and Green Playthrough meters all working. Do you see anything in that picture that's different enough to cause problems?

Re: Audio sounds....strange with a blue yeti and ASUS sound

It's "cardioid" or heart-shaped pattern. In Europe it's sometimes the "kidney" shape. Lots of sound in the front, somewhat less on the sides and very little from the rear.

They're the same link and it points to the silence test. We need the link to the voice test. Can you not see the links when you post them?

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity

Koz, I think you should build up the audiobook checklist as a flow diagram with several questions and the underlying decision branches. I think the goal is a lot simpler. Make my audiobook submission compliant [Y/N] I'm looking at all the custom filters and effects I'm collecting and it qualifies a...

Re: How do I set Audacity to meet exact requirements?

The Audiobook People have to worry about consistency book to book, chapter to chapter and page to page. It's a similar problem that radio stations have. Every notice when you change stations in your car you typically don't have to adjust volume? That's not accidental and lots of money goes into maki...
