Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
That one does not exist yet. The one I'm using is doing a dandy imitation of existing. And there's an one hour version near the end of the mentioned topic that I use for all those measurements, "wavestats.ny" Did you change the name so we know which one we have? I wouldn't mind a specific...

Re: Must uplug mike, then plug it back in to make a recordin
Nobody anywhere said either Windows or Audacity natively supports stereo mics, either. If you plug it in and it doesn't electrically "look right" to windows, anything is possible. That's an undefined condition.- with my stereo mike

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks
I'll be shopping for an audio adapter tomorrow. 3.5mm mono female to 3.5mm stereo male. This isn't the only sound device that uses an adapter like this, so shopping is overdue. I'm going to physically walk through the Radio Shack. Sometimes their web pages can't find stuff that's right there on the ...

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks
Well, there's good news and bad news. I did get it to work (attached). But I have four StarTech adapters and only the two older ones work. Apparently, they changed the design and this trick stopped working. I don't use them this way, so I never noticed. There is an audio adapter that lets all four o...

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks
I found my Radio Shack 43-228A. I found it and a cousin adapter in with the telephone stuff, not the audio stuff which is why I couldn't find it. I'll get the rest of the equipment together and make a call in a bit. I need to find a phone line that's not behind a credenza or a chest of drawers and a...

Re: Is There a SEARCH Function for the Manual?
Is there any possibility that I have a corrupted copy of Audacity? If I un-install it and download a fresh copy, will I have to go back and install the LAME and other add-ins? I don't know if anyone ever directly addressed this, but reinstalling Audacity doesn't reinstall Audacity. Audacity is desi...

Re: HP VT501AA USB hissing sound
I don't think that's right. It sounds like you're holding your microphone at arms length in a noisy room, not a half-inch from your lips. That's the sound you get when you're talking into the wrong end of a directional microphone. This is a real directional microphone. The sound is terrible, but it ...

They go in the plugins folder inside the Audacity program folder.
I think this is the installer instructions.

Re: HP VT501AA USB hissing sound
OK. That makes more sense. The noise is probably at the stage where they make the voice analog signal big enough to digitize it. The Microphone Preamplifier or MicPre. That's the place most microphones or microphone systems have the most trouble. Your voice signal isn't very big. It's in the thousan...
