Re: Audacity does not recognize my USB connection

I'm not the Windows elf, but I would disconnect my USB device and restart Audacity to see if the USB setting vanished. The actual words in the connection ID mean close to nothing. One of my USB audio devices appears as "USB Audio CODEC." Another one actually has the name of the company and...

Re: Error Message: Unable to Target File for Writing

There is one other possibility. Audacity default is to try and save work to the same place it put the program, under /Applications. Your Mac will not like that very much. Open some short song or other work as a test. File > Export and explicitly send the Export to the desktop . Do not let Audacity d...

Re: My band's new song using audacity!

It would help others if you could outline what part Audacity played in how you arrived at your results. Like that essay question you hated in school: "Discuss the American Revolution from the point of view of the parliament of King George III and the Townshend Acts of 1767." Include pictu...

Re: PC to MAC

I would probably take all the files off the old laptop and put them on their own USB external hard drive. See if you can get one that plugs into the wall rather than soaking up multiple USB ports. That should be a lot less work for the techie. I believe it's still true that OS-X will mount and open ...

Re: Audacity Blue Screen of Death

You should uninstall 2.0.4 and install the latest 2.0.5.

You might still have actual driver issues on top of that, but using 2.0.5 is a grand start to fixing this.

Re: PC to MAC

it saves as an .aud file It saves as an .AUP project manager text file and a _DATA folder of the same name with the actual audio in it. You need both to get your show back. The MP3 is nice to listen to, but can't be easily recut into another show or re-edited. What's the possibility of putting an e...

Re: PC to MAC

How did you save the work? The Audacity default high quality sound Export format is Microsoft WAV. Everybody can open those. MP3 will open up everywhere (not recommended for archive). I believe Projects will open up cross platform. How did you save the work and on which Audacity? You can get in trou...

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity

See: Just collecting the tools is a career move. Wavestats isn't nearly as handy as AudioBookNoiseFloor. ABNF goes looking for quiet places in the performance, assumes they're "Room Tone" and measures them with a label (attached). Wavestats has to be lead by the hand and pointed to a Room ...

Re: Error Message: Unable to Target File for Writing

Many people get that error when they try to put punctuation marks in the filename. Without question the chief cause of problems is trying to jam a date in there. Today is 2014-09-09 or 20140909, not 9/9/14. "-" is a valid character. "/" is not. I thought we wrote a thing about th...

Re: Convert Several .au files into 1 MP3 file

Audacity saves all the little au files (which aren't all sound) when you Save a Project. The script or list of instructions to put the show back together is the AUP file. Double click on the AUP file and it will launch Audacity and your show will appear. Without the AUP file, the chances of success ...
