Re: Static While Recording
The two most likely candidates are sending your microphone through a USB hub and having a busy computer that has to stop recording periodically to go off and do something else. Don't use USB hubs with audio equipment. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#noise6 htt...

Re: I Need help opening a long audicity project (15 hours)
Projects with 2^31 samples or more (just over 13.5 hours at 44100 Hz) will not re-open correctly. Higher sample rates mean proportionally shorter times - so just over 6 hours at 96,000 Hz. We know the cause, and do intend to address this bug. Workaround: Before saving or closing the project, export...

Re: Converting WAV to FLAC results in lower volume
As a general rule, conversion between formats, even compressed ones does not change the volume of a performance. What can change is what the programmer was thinking about when he wrote the decoder/player. Sometimes, your computer will get it in its craw to apply different settings depending on who's...

Re: problems connecting my synth
i am getting a signal out of the jacks, as i have successfully used them to go directly into a Pa system. That's excellent troubleshooting. That's what we'd be doing. Dividing the system up into pieces and see which piece crashes. my input is audio in/mic in combined, and i can select between the t...

Re: Big loss of quality when exporting to mp3
If you're trying to overdub new music or voices over an existing track, you should be using strict Overdubbing settings. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html Sorry this is a bit overwhelming but we have to account for many different setups. Please note th...

Re: How does one import a raw data file?
But not make a new movie. You need a video editor for that.I simply dragged the movie file into Audacity and it opened up the audio, which plays and lets me edit it.

Re: Set up
We can probably handle that. You should tell us everything about your system. Which Windows? What kind of microphone? Laptop? It can be really important to describe the job. Recording your voice for your niece in Schenectady is very different from recording your adventures for a published audiobook....

Re: Any way to record with Audacity and a usb dac
The internal sound card is rubbish quality Most of them are. That's why I suggested going outside of the computer with that Behringer UCA202 and a short stereo RCA cable. That device uses high quality Burr-Brown ADDA chips. Someone did an actual technical sound check and the quality is good. Plus, ...

Re: Removing pesky ringing sound generated by Blue Snowball
Noise Removal the sound is removed during periods of silence, but then repeatedly comes back with each new word spoken. Yes. Noise Removal is not a gift from the heavens and in severe cases just changes the problem to a different problem. The Smoothing setting controls how Noise Removal works aroun...
