Re: Blue Snowball quality is bad all of a sudden PLEASE HELP
Audacity looks for new USB devices when it starts and can forget about devices if there is an interruption. So you can get seriously magic results if you use a USB headset for gaming or Skype or have a ratty USB connection. Unplug all other audio devices, plug the Snowball in (firmly, let it settle)...

KozThough a WAV file can contain compressed audio, the most common WAV audio format is uncompressed audio in the linear pulse code modulation (LPCM) format.

Re: Getting clean crisp audio with Audacity and a Blue Yeti?
I remember where I heard that before. Are you fighting with the recorder, or are you supposed to be having an argument with somebody as part of the show? Most times you hear or see something like that it's carefully staged so it can be recorded. People are not really walking around or waving their a...

Re: Getting clean crisp audio with Audacity and a Blue Yeti?
You're a little too free-form. You can only get expressive and loud until the sound channel overloads. Then it turns into rough and crunchy and there's no way to fix it. I hear room back there. You can help that by recording in a room with no smooth walls and bare floor, or use a directional microph...

Re: Getting clean crisp audio with Audacity and a Blue Yeti?
You don't have to worry about the mount vibration at all if you use a shock mount. I made one out of plumbing supplies. http://www.kozco.com/tech/pvcShockMount/final.jpg http://www.kozco.com/tech/pvcShockMount/shockmount.html A proper blast filter is not made out of foam. That's a sure recipe for mu...

Re: Can't Seem to Save Long Audio
AIFF and WAV are close cousins. AIFF has reverse byte order (big-endian...something) and provision for additional file information, but past that they're pretty similar. So I'm not shocked they both fail. The classic way to get around copy protection is burn the show to a CD and then rip the CD. You...

Re: Can't Seem to Save Long Audio
Sometimes viewing the problem too closely isn't good. What's the goal? I don't mean the one in your post, I mean "I want to do this because..."

Re: Fuzz
Pick a web page that shows your microphone. All the pages I see are for USB microphones and they won't plug into the pink socket of a soundcard. The sound is awful. There's something very serious wrong. Normal microphone problems don't produce that honky, talking into a bucket sound with hiss behind...
