If all you want to do is cut an MP3, you may be able to use one of the products that doesn't mess with compression such as MP3splt, although that's only for Windows.

I don't know of one for Macs.

Re: Importing-exporting lossy originals
MP3 compression produces a tiny show plus compression damage and debris. As long as you never compress it again, the damage will stay constant. So exporting as WAV or AIFF or a super high quality MP3 will not make the show any worse. If you try to compress the show back to the original filesize, bot...

Re: Setting max clipping to be able to noise remove and ampl
Noise Removal should not cause any part of the show to increase in volume. I've never had that happen. If it insists on doing that, then start the process way up at the very first Amplify to a smaller number, like Amplify to -1 or -2 instead of zero. That will give the system a little room to grow w...

Re: Setting max clipping to be able to noise remove and ampl
I'd like to do a few rounds of that. Some people do find multiple gentle applications of Noise Removal to work better than one massive one. In that case I would skip the Amplify or Normalize steps in the middle. Get the presentation in good shape with your editing and one pass of Amplify to make it...

- When you close other applications, do you really close them or leave them running in the background. How many indicators in the application dock are glowing? Actually close things when you don't need them. Restart the machine and don't launch anything except Audacity. If Skype or a browser launche...

Re: Hooking up a Roland AC-40 to a computer running Audacity
Don't sell the Behringer UCA202. That's how you're going to get your guitar cabinet into your computer. The Behringer is not part of the Mackie. It's part of your computer. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg You need to round up enough cables and adapters to get from the 1...

Re: Audacity playback
The postings suggest that Emu uses ASIO drivers. Audacity doesn't easily work with ASIO.

Do you have a known event to analyze? Do you have a known test condition and the expected result?
