Re: Trying to record with Turble Beach gaming headphones
It's discontinued, but what instructions I could find tell me the system comes with separate headphone and microphone plugs. Put the microphone plug (pink??) into the MIC-IN of your soundcard. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_your...

Re: AUDACITY FLATLINING - HELP!
So that step failed. Instead of opening the MP3 download in Audacity, try opening it in Windows Media.copy and paste the URL into a website called http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ to convert the song into an MP3 file, which I then download and open in Audacity.

Re: Couldn't Find Project Data Folder
Can you find the data folders when you go looking for them? The AUP instruction text file and the _DATA folder with the sound information have to be in the same folder or location. AUP will not go looking all over your computer for the _DATA folder. If it's not in the immediate folder, it gives up. ...

Re: How to improve sound quality and decrease file size?
They may be using an MP3 editor. Audacity is not an MP3 editor. Audacity converts everything to an internal sound format and then converts to a whole new MP3 on Export adding compression distortion. If all you're doing is cutting and simple editing, an MP3 editor is perfect. They won't do special ef...

Re: Migration from Win 7 to Win 8 problem
Then I'm confused. Live recording is not part of the Audacity Import and Export system — until you export the show later. Kozbut the export/import to Win 8 doesn't.

Re: 2.0.6 Crashing regularly
While repeatedly posting logs can be helpful, a simple narrative description of what you're doing with your computer works wonders.

Re: Migration from Win 7 to Win 8 problem
I use the Task Scheduler to record from NPR web sites using Audacity. Actually, that's not what you're doing. You're not live recording the streaming show. That would have worked. You're downloading posted files. I do that with one show each week. Downloading and opening runs into security issues. ...

Re: Attempting to Remove Vocals
You don't need to go through all that. Effect > Vocal Removal has all that baked into one tool. The YouTube people all carefully chose a song that works perfectly even though they may not realize they did that. Most songs don't work all that well. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/MysteryTrain3.m...

Re: Error not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1275
for some reason, my computer was restarted. I think I'd find out why it did that. Live audio (and video) production is stressful for a computer. Your machine could limp on the edge of failing for a long time but the first sound project could push it over the edge. For one example, Audacity makes ve...
