Re: HELP me with recording from one site onto my Audacity

and then Record That's the phrase that pays right there. Audacity will only record from one "thing" at a time. You can totally record something from on-line and then go back later and record your microphone. If you set it up, that's called Overdubbing, and you can compile yourself singing...

Re: distortion when reducing sampling rate

Even a dirt simple Behringer UFO-202 phono preamp has a place for that third wire. Screw terminal on the left.

Re: distortion when reducing sampling rate

You rang several bells there. If you're worried about RIAA equalization, then you're doing it wrong. RIAA is taken care of automatically in the Phono Preamplifier. You need to have a preamp or something that says it's a preamp. Do you have a classic analog turntable? It should have three cables: Lef...

Re: Stereo recording is only on 1 track

They both play in the left headphone. What does the panel say in the left of the tracks? Mono? Screen Shot 2020-10-14 at 7.43.18 PM.png Note both of those volume sliders need to be in the center, not pushed to one side or the other. Download and play this short sound file. Re: Adding vocals

A note you didn't mention headphones. Any time you have a live microphone you're going to need good, sealed on the head headphones. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg I'm not fond of earbuds or anything wireless. They can have problems by either leaking the backing track into your voic...

Re: Adding vocals

You want overdubbing. Play a backing or rhythm track into your headphones and record your voice on a new track. It's not a simple button push. There's some setup and adjustments to get it to work. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html Straight, simple overd...

Re: Stereo recording is only on 1 track

The Desperation Method is record a single track and Audacity should call it "Mono" in the info panel on the left. Mono sound tracks will play to both left and right speakers and headphones with no further work. If you really need two sound channels, Left and Right (I used to deliver voice ...

an old Mojave machine
While you were in there, did you turn up a watch battery?

I wonder how they do time and date now? Is that why the main battery no longer comes out?

Re: Dropouts when recording improvements

We're looking for broken memory. You shuffled across the rug and didn't discharge yourself while you were installing the strips, or even got broken memory out of the static package. Not likely, but it does happen. You wear a wrist strap while you're in surgery, right? The checker applies different p...

There is this from the wiki.
