Re: Audacity Crash...Unsaved file...Can it be recovered?
Audacity was still working when you woke up your Air, right? I've done that with no troubles. Did you change anything between the interview and later, like disconnect a USB microphone? In that case, Audacity would have woken up to unstable conditions. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recovery.ht...

Re: MINIDISC ANALOGUE RECORDINGS TRANSFER TO COMPUTER
That's MiniDisc research. I know Sony didn't use standard format sound files in that thing and they might have played other games as well. Consult your instructions. Was the USB connection ever designed to transfer files to anything but a Sony computer? That's the sort of thing they're famous for. Koz

I find that a single mic placed about 6 - 8 inches from my mouth That depends on the type and directionality of the microphone, but yes, that sounds about right. If you have good recording environment (no room echoes) you might also get a pleasant mix further away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz...

Many of us Save individual projects as we go in a complicated show to avoid the computer taking a dive in the middle. We just go back to the last save and keep working. I use the date and time (in ISO format). Now is 2004-10-23-1301.

Re: mandolin sound
Play a mandolin? Pitch shift never does what people want because it's very literal. Not only do the notes go up, but the string noise, fingering, environment, slide squeak, echo, etc. all go up, too. This gives a sound like a speeded up record rather than a higher pitched performance. This is the sa...

Re: Recording using Serato scratch live
Just to cover straight equipment failure, What's the possibility of changing the cable? That would be cheaper than changing the interface. I can't think of an easy way to test it at home. Usually, I can come up with a way to cross sound systems to check things like this. http://www.kozco.com/tech/au...

Re: Recording using Serato scratch live
The iMic is switched to line, I have tried both to be honest with no difference. I'm not an iMic fan. I tried one and the performance was so awful I put it in a box in the garage. I own two of these and I like them very much. They are high quality stereo interfaces, both directions. http://www.swee...
