Re: .wav or .mp3 & other options
some of that black foam padding Packing foam doesn't work that well. It's job is to take up space and not weigh anything. Soundproofing's job is to be heavy. To get in the way of the sound. Sound has to push its way through. Anything you do does something , but the best stuff is heavy. Do you have ...

Re: .wav or .mp3 & other options
Oh, right. Files. Audacity will not save a sound file. It will save Projects which are combinations of files and folders that allow you to save timelines and edit configurations (but not UNDO). They're perfect quality but they can be brittle and they only open in Audacity. Audacity will Export stand...

Re: .wav or .mp3 & other options
Is there anything I can do in Audacity to get A or C closer to B? No. But there's quite a bit you can do to the room. You have echoes from the walls and floor. A and C have that "recording in the bathroom or kitchen" sound. That and noise are the curse of first-time home recordists. You h...

Re: Export stopped remembering the destination folder
The only directory you can force is the folder location for temporary or "scratch pad" memory. Simple Export defaults to the last location used. I think there's a default Export location for fresh Audacity program installs, but I would have to look it up. That was a sore point for a while ...

Re: Voice playback speed
Did you use the same microphone each time? Does that microphone have a "favorite" sampling rate such as 48000 and is it different from your show sampling rate, such as 44100? That error may sound like someone dragging their finger on a record.

Do you have an actual Audacity question? Trouble with your microphone? Setting up for overdubbing?

Re: Stereo recording is only on 1 track
You're building a terrific case for broken headphones, or having analog headphones not plugged all the way in. That stereo sound test is in four parts: Left-Only, Right-Only, Mono (both), and intentionally damaged stereo. They are identified in the performance. Which parts were missing and/or which ...

Re: How can I remove noise caused by setting my mic's gain too high?
Another way to look at that is during the clipping, the digital system stopped following the show. The damage is obvious and permanent which is why so many home microphones have low volume. Overload and Clipping makes you want to send the microphone back.
