Re: So this is weird. please help
Can I assume you're trying to do overdubbing? There are two delays or latencies. Recording latency is handled with an Audacity setting. This is the setting that affects the accuracy of the overlaid sound. But there's a second delay. Computer latency is fixed. That's the one that lets you hear yourse...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options
A defect in the Clipping Indicator produces a different useful tool, the Peak Programme Indicator. There is no single solution. There needs to be a formal Peak Programme Indicator and the Clipping Indicator needs to be fixed to respond only to probably clipping damage.

Re: export mp4 to 16bit pcm wav, imported shows 32bit float
Audio CD Authoring Programs will not make a wrong CD. If you select "Music CD" in the program's options, the program should convert whatever you have to whatever it needs. The whole music CD concept was to produce an unquestioned disk that will play all over earth. Worst case is you supply...

Re: Audacity Crashed and Now I Have 1,605 2 Second Clips!!!
There is no program that does this. There is a manual recovery method listed in that link. Scroll down. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recovering_crashes_manually.html The tiny clips alternate right and left in a stereo show and they're not all sound files. If there was any damage that disrupt...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options
The fade option can be cheated by a temporary latch. I've seen systems that just stay bright for a second or two rather than fading. I'm good with that. I'm sure that's far easier to code. In my first encounter with the current flashers I kept waiting for them to turn off by themselves. All the proc...

Re: Spastic Cursor in Audacity (Recording and Playback)
How powerful is the machine and how many other things are running? Live audio (and video) is very stressful for a machine and you can run out of machine power very quickly. Restart the machine and shut down WiFi and Bluetooth. Disconnect the network if you have a wired connection. Open a show and pl...

Re: best settings for noise reduction
Post some of the work before you mess with it. Straight recording, no effects. Use very high quality MP3 to get the most music in. Include some music and a count to three silent patch where you stop playing. Hold your breath. We want to hear the noise only. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.ph...

Re: background noise help
That's a killer problem. #4. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't record the show in your mum's kitchen.) -- 2. Overload and Clipping (Sound that's recorded too loud is permanently trashed.) -- 3. Compression D...
