Re: HP Desktop 500-281 - Sound Quality Setup help

Do you want to scratch and do you need it portable? If neither, I wonder if you don't need any other hardware. You can produce multi-track just in Audacity. Koz

Re: Choosing between 4 USB mics

So far the MXL unit seems to come out on top. It has on-board zero latency monitoring and volume/balance controls similar to the G-Track that I have used and like. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/samsonGTrackConnections.jpg Get the full spider mount, pop and blast filter and a stand. Note the...

Re: Choosing between 4 USB mics

Unfortunately, you never get somebody trying out two microphones and liking one of them. Audio quality has almost nothing to do with the microphone. What kind of room do you have and where is it? We had a recent posting from someone wanting us to fix other people talking next door to his performance...

I recently switched to using Audacity on Mac

Generate > Click Track.
Remember Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. You can generate a minute of click track and it will play for a minute. If you want to change the speed, you have to make a new minute and play that.

Re: background noise help

Being able to control your recording room is a big deal because we can't fix many common recording problems. If you have room echoes or reverb, you're stuck with them. If your microphone has too much hiss that can be fatal. The only tool you can use to split apart different voices in the same show i...

Re: Blue spark digital Mic hiss (even when muted)

The power coming out of the wall is not symmetrical. There's a hot side and a cold or return side. If there is any unbalance at all in the power supply, it may very gently suggest that the protective shields on your microphone are electrically "hot." It doesn't take much unbalance. Microph...

Re: Reverb (Echo) Recording Off Youtube

Stereo-Mix is Everything On The Computer. So if you have your speakers and microphone running all at once, that may be where the echo is coming from.

Did you go through that tutorial on Streaming Audio? It's not always as simple as you think.

Attached. There is no big prong and little prong or grounding prong. Some of the larger power supplies work that way, too.

Re: Blue spark digital Mic hiss (even when muted)

Many Mac power supplies do not have polarized wall plugs. They will plug in either direction and sometimes that can help when you have a microphone or other sound problem. Some PCs work that way, too.
