Re: ripping individual songs from CDs from tapes
There's no magic wand, no. Normalize and its sister Amplify are stupid tools and they do almost the same thing. You choose a particular volume and both of them rip through an entire song (or collection if you haven't broken them up yet) and forces the one loudest note or sound to be that volume, and...

Re: Problems recording bass, both direct in and micing
Unplug and reseat the 3.5mm connection. You might clean it with a paper towel and alcohol while you have it out. I have gotten magic damage by not having the plug in all the way or have something else mechanically wrong. This is going to be seriously difficult because what you have now is perfectly ...

Re: Audacity Already Running Error
Audacity doesn't directly support Yosemite yet. Are you actually installing Audacity and not trying to run it from inside the DMG folder? Seriously magic things can happen if you do that by accident. You have to finish the install by dragging the Audacity program folder into /Applications. It will s...

Re: UNABLE TO RECORD USING CARVIN MIXER
Lets do this in steps. I would connect the two Carvin Tape Out RCAs to the Focusrite Input #1 and Input #2. Correct me, but the Focusrite volume control knobs have flashing lights to indicate the presence of audio? Do they? If that step fails, you may have the Carvin set up wrong. Find an RCA to RCA...

Re: Recording not keeping up with Tape
Are you going through a USB hub? Audio doesn't like that. What else is the computer doing? What's "plenty" of disk space? Audio (and video) production are computer stressors. Both happen in very real time. The computer can't go off and do housekeeping during a song. The next musical note i...

Re: Problems recording voice onto karaoke track
Are you still recording your microphone? Check the Device Toolbar. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html If you unplugged a USB microphone and then plugged it in again, Audacity may forget about it. Restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan... Make sure you're still set up for Overdu...

Re: Replay recording
Select the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows), click on your early track (too far to the left) and push it to the right. Play it to see how you did. Move it again, etc. The normal selector tool is the "I Bar" when you get done pushing the timing around. You are going to run into t...

Re: Question about sound quality with Audacity.
I knew that there is a point after which you can't hear a difference in quality Just to be excessively careful about that. Those numbers are for straight recording and listening, not production. If you know your song is going to go through extensive production, filtering, effects, etc, barely adequ...

Re: Replay recording
"An Oldie Newbie." That's good. Can I use that? It depends on how you made the song. If you did it with overdubbing techniques, the two are already on separate tracks and you just need to select each one for effects or filtering — or timing with the Time Shift Tool. http://manual.audacityt...
