Re: Echo or Tin Sound for Voice Recordings
I am getting complaints that the audio at times sounds “echoey” and other times “tinny” I'm betting you're not recording your Snowball. It maybe in front of you, but Snowballs do not sound naturally echoey and tinny. Ian, one of our posters is recording audiobooks with his. What kind of computer is...

Re: Default Waveform
The other thing you can get stuck with is magnification. Hover over the amplitude labels to the immediate left of the blue waves. The cursor will change into a magnifier. Shift-Click multiple times should reduce the waveform size to 2.0 up and 2.0 down. Straight Click once more for default 1.0 up an...

Re: Trying to strip down a song to only hear one part of it?
You're talking about the 23 seconds of piano over muffled crowd noise. I'm torn between "forget it" and trying a Vocal Isolation tool. Since the piano is in stereo, it's possible 'Center Channel' or 'Vocal Isolation' might help. Audacity doesn't have either one, or at least not as a regula...

Re: Removing vocals
What he said. Like I said, you should load all the software and tracks and try it. I'll stop shooting at you now. Post back if you have troubles anywhere in the process. Just import both tracks and they will appear one above the other and play at the same time. Jiggle the position of one (or both) s...

Re: My recording is really bad due to microphone being too h
Using a sound board and a lapel microphone I'm reading over this again. How did you connect your sound board to the computer? Most computers will not allow you to connect a soundboard to Mic-In. It's a sister to this problem. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Line-Out_Mic-In.jpg A powerful hea...

Re: playback device settings and the project sample
All I want to do is bting a audio file into Audacity and edited down to make it shorter. Just to rain on your parade a little, you may not want to do this in Audacity. If your original music is an MP3 or other compressed (internet) format, Audacity will likely make the sound worse after you get don...

Re: playback device settings and the project sample
You can get that error if you Import a sound file, but Audacity is trying to send your speaker or headphone sound to a device it doesn't understand (like not your speakers or headphones). You can set this in the Device Toolbar (attached). The speaker icon should have a sound device you actually own....

Re: when I export to MP3, suddenly no sound!
The quick version of this is Audacity does not yet support Yosemite. Many odd things have been reported go wrong with this combination. I've been avoiding the upgrade until this is resolved.
