Re: Questions about Clipping
although lavs are a bit tricky during a pandemic... Here, let me jam my hand up your shirt...from six feet away. There's a trick here, too. Somebody is making a lavalier that records in two different volumes at the same time. It makes setting volume much less tricky. I wrote that down here...somewh...

Re: Questions about Clipping
Can you give me a quick crash course in what each feature does, I've never used that collection and My lesser Zoom recorders don't have that feature (that I know of). That's worth a checkout over tea. Basically, as the sound gets louder than a set volume, an electronic guy turns down the recording ...

Re: Questions about Clipping
Zoom H6 does have a -20 Pad (db??) That's not for simple recording. That's for recording a trumpet or other loud, close sounds. Using it when you don't need it will increase the microphone internal or electronic noise. Not Grand Central, but making a recording near one of the New York Central locom...

the gain possible a notch too low, and then amp it up later in Audacity Yes. But. You're juggling too many balls for quick, simple analysis. If you dig in the instructions for the H5, you may discover the built-in limiter/compressor which allows you to record denser and louder voices during the per...

Re: Voice playback speed
The track is longer in duration, too, right?
Select the whole track with the button on the left.
Effect > Change Speed > Multiplier 1.088 > OK.
Is that more normal?
What is the microphone and how is it connected? What is the sampling rate?

Re: erase background noise from voicemail
A cautious yes. Effect > Noise Reduction. It works in two steps. Drag-select some part of the speech that you know is pure noise . No voice. Effect > Noise Reduction > Profile . Then select the whole file with the Select button on the left. Effect > Noise Reduction > Choose the settings > OK . Start...

Re: How does one record audio on Mac
The desperate desperation method is roll the machine back from Catalina to Mojave or High Sierra.

Re: How does one record audio on Mac
Since the recent update, Catalina? Yes, Catalina created a number of challenges for audio production. SoundFlower and iShowU were the two applications which could allow recording internet sound, but they are struggling with Catalina's registration and lock-down features. Soundflower is under develo...

Re: Poor Audio Quality When Recording
Is the machine ever used for Zoom or Skype or other chat or communications recording? All of those apps use sound processing while they're working, and they are working even if you leave them in the background or waiting for a call. Sometimes the effects stay even if the app is turned off. I'd feel ...

We can't help if there are too many problems at the same time. Sometimes the description in the post isn't enough and it's good to actually listen to the recording. That's what we need now.
