Re: No option for external mic input
If you have an older MacBook Pro like this one... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn.jpg There is no direct, formal connection for an external analog microphone. There is a Secret Aural Teachings of a way to break into the microphone portion of the headset connection, but I've never do...

Re: Editing inputs from ZOOMh4n
I connect the H4 and use it to transfer the sound files instead of pulling out the card. Since it's an older unit, I recently did the firmware upgrade to allow it to use larger cards. I've never used it as a live microphone. Why would you restrict your movement to the 6 foot USB cable and proximity ...

Re: Echo or Tin Sound for Voice Recordings
You're correct. Sound tailoring for a communications or telephone system is very different from entertainment jobs. I'm not shocked that the headset seems to deliver better results in this application.

Re: Echo or Tin Sound for Voice Recordings
In the past I have recorded in high quality and converted but because I went from 44100 to 8000 it sounded like a demon speaking. You may have done the conversion in the wrong place. Reset the sampling number in the lower left of the Audacity window. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/selection_t...

Re: Monitor in headphones while recording.
I experience a lag in when I say something to when its heard in my headphones. The good news is what you have is totally normal. You can't, as a rule, monitor the computer in an overdubbing session. The three special hardware techniques I wrote about in the overdubbing tutorial were chosen because ...

If you have a MBP old enough to have a Stereo Line-In (thin circle and two black arrows) you may not need anything else. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn.jpg I intentionally bought a recent MBP with the older technology just to get that connection. I do master recording and broadcast...

Re: Recording 4 channels into 4 different tracks
We did a thing on multi-channel devices. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=38626 The worst you would have to do is two stereo passes to get four channels. Many people make terrific stereo devices. My favorite is the Behringer UCA-202 and its cousins. http://www.kozco.com/tech/au...
