Did you install Audacity the whole way? Did you drag the Audacity product folder into /Applications? If you're trying to run Audacity from the DMG drive, that can cause serious problems.

Re: Can't recover autosaved file
But once I recoverd the 1,5 hour set and tried to save it Save it, or Export it? I think whatever was wrong with your machine during the first force reboot is still wrong. Do you have enough room on your drives for the show? Which Windows and Which Audacity? Answer the questions in the pink band at...

Re: Cut up MP3 Files
Yes, but you may not want it to. When Audacity finishes with this task, you're stuck with exporting WAV or other high quality sound format, not another MP3. The bubbly, honky compression sound damage will go up if you make new MP3s and the show may no longer be acceptable quality. But if you want to...

Re: First timer - Recording Levels too low
You missed a step. You plug your microphone into a microphone mixer which boosts the volume. The UCA202 takes the higher volume show from the mixer and digitizes it for Audacity. This is my UCA202 with my sound mixer on the right. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg The UCA...

Re: How to remove "hiss" and "hum"?
This also reminds me of the thought exercise of making Vocal Isolation out of Vocal Removal. Should be a snap, right? You have the original song and the original song without the vocals. It should be possible to add and subtract just right and get the vocal without the song. Nope. No simple arithmet...

Re: How to remove "hiss" and "hum"?
I would think it is fine for speech where the content is the main focus As above with normal Noise Removal, you can't actually take hiss out of the whole show. The tones and acoustic quality go straight in the trash if you try, so the tool has a way to stop reducing noise when somebody is speaking....

Re: Audio Help
Let me read this back to you. You were able to fix the setting on the microphone so future shows are OK and you made the damaged show lower in volume, but now you want us to get rid of the crunchy sound. Probably not. That's number 2. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways ...

Re: EV Cobalt CO9 mic, is it stereo or mono?
If you're not completely snowed yet, I can do more. The three pins at the bottom of your microphone are sound (your voice, usually pin 2. Look at the pins with a strong flashlight. They're numbered) the sound protection signal (pin 3) and the protective shield (pin 1). If you have a good performance...

Re: EV Cobalt CO9 mic, is it stereo or mono?
It is a Dynamic (moving coil) microphone. It's a cousin to the "Rock Band" Shure SM58. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM58 You need a special adapter to plug one of those into the pink Mic-In of a soundcard, and even then it might not work right. Mic-In of a soundcard expects to be...
