Re: Weak positive input from Nakamichi BX-300
so I can trouble shoot my tape machine Or maybe not. That machine is a terrific but analog tape machine. How did you get the sound into the computer? That step kills a lot of people. The bottom (right) channel is low level and heavily distorted. Note the tops do not match the bottoms of the blue wa...

Re: Audacity Suddenly Stopped Saving File
the cost difference I'm not bit counting. I think the explanations have a high Eyes Glaze Over factor. Correct me, but Windows users have no idea what a file extension is. I sat behind a crew trying to bring a Win7 Avid machine up with no filename extensions and it was truly painful to watch. "...

Re: Audacity Suddenly Stopped Saving File
Isn't it the case that most times this error is a Smack The Head moment? Of course, How could I be so stupid?
The filename has two dots in it. OK? [Y|N]
I think we're too quick to include pages of explanation where a simple warning would work.

Re: microphone
Select a short clip of the noise and post it on the forum so we can hear it. Use good quality MP3, not WAV. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 Then, while we're chewing on that, you can fill in the information from the pink band at the top of this thread. Also include the m...

Re: Radio signal interruption/interference
So you got the bad single-sideband voice OK? How did you do it? I live mid-way between three Hams. I'd just have them do it. Buy them donuts and they'll do anything. There's no shortage of samples of FSK tones. http://www.nonstopsystems.com/radio/radio-sounds.html The Digital Voice samples sound pre...

Re: Comparing two supposedly identical tracks.
If you have one above the other, Audacity will try to play them both at once. Pretty much what you need in this case. The volume may double if you do that and cause speaker distortion, so be careful. Then it was not "identical". It was the Left-Right Mono test. The two-track mono portion w...

Re: Audacity Suddenly Stopped Saving File
Are you starting to run out of space on your hard drive? That's what happens to the video people. They crank out show after show and then one day they can't save a new show any more — because there isn't room.

Re: Make "Sound Recorder" sound like studio?
These are all patch jobs because the original show is in such terrible shape. Yes, you can get rid of hum and buzz by slicing out the exact frequencies, pitches and tones that make up the buzz (notch filters). But those tones are gone forever, and if one of the performer's voices happens to land on ...

Re: Make "Sound Recorder" sound like studio?
Audacity doesn't apply filters and effects in real time like some money-based programs, and if everybody's voice is jammed onto one track, you can't pick and choose which voices get work done later in post production. Did you ever post what one of those remote voices sounds like? Use high quality MP...
