Re: selection will not highlight in front

First I heard of this. Do something on the screen to illustrate the problem and then perform a restricted screen capture. Shift-Command-4 will let you draw a box around the area of interest and capture it to a picture file. If you want, you can also use Shift-Command-3 and capture the whole screen. ...

Re: Multitrax Track 01 recording into trax 02 Not wanted

I ran into this once. Make sure the computer is not applying "Cathedral Sound," "Cave Echo" or other special effects to the playback sound.

Re: MX Skype recorder sound problems

The obvious distortion isn't the only problem. The Left (upper) sound channel has world-class DC offset (downward). The blue waves are supposed to be centered around the 0 mark like the lower one. I know nothing about MX Skype Recorder or your setup. My first pass at recording Skype perfectly on Win...

Re: Pitch EAC?

You'll need to post a screen capture so we can see what you're seeing. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 There are picky and painful ways to see musical notes, but nothing that can display the note names up and down the timeline which is what I assume you want. The attache...

Re: Blue Yeti Problem? Hissing Sound

You should post an actual sound clip. We'll see first, what it is, and then Noise Removal settings that may work for you. If it's voice, hold your breath for two seconds and then talk normal volume. Post mono, not stereo so you can get more sound into the post. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopi...

Re: Blue Yeti Problem? Hissing Sound

Or like this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/FryingMosquitoes3.wav That's the digital system getting into the audio. It's as close as we get to a "magic" problem with no clear solution. If I pay attention, I can actually hear the computer deciding to do stuff like manage the USB conn...

Re: Measurement Relevant to Sound Intensity

To clarify a bit. If you put audio tones judged the same size by the Audacity instruments into a "flat, perfect" speaker system, they will all generate the same air movement. What you do with that air movement is where it goes downhill.

Re: Measurement Relevant to Sound Intensity

You can draw a more-or-less straight line between the blue waves and bouncing sound meter in Audacity and Sound Intensity, as long as you never have to actually listen to the sound. Putting your ears in the mix is where it get sticky because your ears are biologically adaptive and they pick and choo...

Re: Recording voicemails from my smart phone

Everybody knows what an MP3 is and you have to use it all the time. They're wrong. It's difficult to edit an MP3 into another MP3 without losing sound quality, sometimes seriously so. MP3 is the end of the line. Export a WAV of your work and use that as the archive master. Make a copy on a thumb dri...

Re: Recording voicemails from my smart phone

Audacity behaves in clear, predictable ways when it's making a successful recording. The red sound meters bounce and blue waves will accumulate on the timeline. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg If you don't get either one, then Audacity wasn't working correctly, or you didn't put ...
