I'm trying to find out what kind of microphone it is: Dynamic, Condenser, etc. The answer after extensive research? High Quality.
See? It says so in multiple places.

Re: Microphone records only right channel.
Exactly. That's what triggered the startled looks. Your soundcard appears to be backwards from everybody else's. I was going to look up your microphone, but I don't think I need to. Mic-In on a normal soundcard has no right channel. That's the connection taken up by the battery to run the computer m...

Re: Deciphering subliminal messages in a recording
the stuff you see in TV shows or movies where they enhance audio to pull-out a conversation from crowd noise at a party... That's just science fiction. Which actually has a name. The "CSI Effect." Turns out many jurors drive to the courthouse expecting the trial to be over in 53 minutes. ...

Re: Lost minutes of recording before saving
My date convention for file names is YYYYMMDD. That's one of the ISO accepted options. And yes, it's cool because it sorts perfectly without the system knowing what a date format is. You do seem to be in the rare atmosphere of doing everything right and Audacity still insists on damaging the show. ...

Re: Make "Sound Recorder" sound like studio?
Oh, and you're getting dangerously close to the impossible "Make My Voice Sound Like XX". XX can be a child, a woman (assuming you're not already one), a particular person... or an announcer. Yes we can sometimes make up for lack of crispness or no bass tones, but we can't help echoes or i...

Re: Make "Sound Recorder" sound like studio?
You know, just a thought: you could solve the clothes rustling problem by clothes-pinning that USB mic to a headset mic boom That's the slippery slope. Since I have a boom anyway, I might just as well use the boom microphone. Once I have that I might just as well use a separate recorder, and etc. e...

Re: Exporting to a Smart Phone & Then Locating the File
If there's any chance at all you may damage the sound file, make a copy of it on a USB thumb drive and keep it on a shelf or in your pocket.

Re: Radio signal interruption/interference
So this isn't "theatrically approximate" and you really are trying to fool somebody. That's why I asked you about the Single Sideband sound. That has a very distinctive acoustic fingerprint and you'd never be able to fool a real radio operator with the Audacity Equalizer.

Re: Recovering .au files without a .aup file
There's a chance of recovery if Audacity goes into the mud while it's making a clean recording. If you were editing when it went down, you're dead.
See: Make a recording and Save or Export immediately. Then edit.

I think we missed a step. What happened when you did this:
KozYour Audacity version is outdated but it still has Automatic Crash Recovery. If you simply launch Audacity again it should try to recover the recording.
