Re: How Do You Keeping Monitoring On Permanently?
Why do you say that? My version of Audacity (2.0.6) has a separate playback meter. You asked for record monitoring to be on all the time. If it was, your playback and your record work will be audible at the same time. It has to switch intelligently and it doesn't do that yet. The larger decks only ...

Re: noise gate for breath removal
Live with it. You're in the same boat with the people desperate to get rid of those squeaks when they play guitar. Did anyone complain about it? Well, no. The only perfect way to deal with your problem is magnify each breath and fade it out manually. You probably won't want to fade it to silence bec...

Re: Exportin .au to wav at lower quality=compression?
It's being resampled. Compression in the general idea is leaving out portions of the music that you're not going to miss anyway. Both 96/24 and 48/24 are "perfect" formats. Nothing gets left out. Formats like that are useful if you're going to do extensive production, filtering and effects...

Re: How Do You Keeping Monitoring On Permanently?
Not for me, but you don't actually want that because then you wouldn't be able to Play.
I think commercial recorders do this. They go into EE (playthrough) all the time they're not playing. I'm guessin' that's what you really want, right?

Re: When recording from device laptop hears playback! Help
You have started to record your laptop built-in microphone instead of your device or dedicated connection. You can change that with your Audacity Device Toolbar. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html If you're using a USB microphone or device, remember Audacity may forget about it...

Re: Audacity 2.0.6 Cannot Find Project Data Folder
This morning I imported the WAV files into my project, only to discover they were empty and that I couldn't open any of the .aup files from my desktop. And it's at that exact point that you stepped through the looking glass — or actually, the step just before this one. This was the land mine step w...

Re: Need Fast reccomendation
Before I describe 48 volt Phantom Power on condenser microphones, are you still sure you don't want a simple, stand-alone recorder like the H2?

Re: Need Fast reccomendation
Are you sure... We covered that already. People do make microphones that fit into your soundcard, but they tend to be $12 usd and aren't very good. One of the other posters had one that worked OK, as long as you didn't need to push it very far. He was having other troubles with his soundcard and it ...

Here's another one. The lighting effects are fake.

Re: Need Fast reccomendation
See? This is the Sour Spot in recording. No clear winners. Are you sure you don't want to try one of the stand-alone recorders? They take a lot of the fuss out of this process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcVec_RPwuc&list=UU3Wj9aO8VS5ZuXrtWfJf81w The worst part of this cave recording session...
