Re: Willing to pay somebody to clean an 2 minute interview f
Post a piece of the raw work. We may be able to just tell you how to clean it. Include a second or two of Room Tone (no words, just background) and then some performance. You can't attach very much. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 I'm completly novice and I need to clean...

I didn't see any samples posted.
Hearing the raw, unprocessed clip is a Really Big Deal. We can tell a lot very quickly from that.

Many of the controls and actions will gray out if you're in Pause instead of Stop.

Re: message "UNABLE TO OPEN TARGET FILE FOR WRITING"
Are you exporting the music to WAV files? That's usually a good idea. WAV files will open up anywhere, but Audacity Projects will only open in Audacity. A common mistake is to insist on using MP3 files for all music work. MP3 creates sound damage when it works, so it's only a good idea when you want...

Re: message "UNABLE TO OPEN TARGET FILE FOR WRITING"
I think this was the error we got when we included a date in the filename. Did you do that? Use ISO versions of dates 2014-12-10. Don't put other punctuation marks in filenames.

Re: Weak signal when recording on a Windows 8.1 laptop
Windows machines have the ability to change the volume of digital connections such as USB. So it's good to dig around in the Windows Control Panels and get those settings right before you launch and set up Audacity. My older Win7 machine had tiny sound meters in the control system to help setting le...

Re: Hearing a Recording
You don't need to go well into the show to be able to tell whether or not you are getting a recording. Audacity has bouncing recording sound meters and collects blue waves on a timeline when everything is going well. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg If you have flat lines and no b...

Re: Exportin .au to wav at lower quality=compression?
It's sneakier than that. Good compression can turn an expensive violin into a cheap violin and most people don't notice. That's why performers hate it.imagine someone whispering next to you at a rock concert

Mic-In (pink) on modern Windows laptops is not a general-purpose Stereo Line-In. [pclap][/pclap] It's designed for microphones only. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg To connect a stereo entertainment device to your computer, you can install an external Stereo input suc...
