I'm sure there is an easy way to do this. Why are you sure? MP3's Full Family Name is MPEG1, Layer 3. It's part of a video format. First, you should convert your high quality, non-MP3 sound file to mono if it isn't already. Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. Then change the Project Rate number at the bottom-left of the Audacity window to 8000. That should give you a sound track about the quality of a telephone — 4000Hz sound. Telep...

I plug in the device, press play, start the recording Wrong order. Plug the device in and let Windows chew on it for a bit. Then start Audacity and make sure it's set to record from the device. You should be able to open the Window Control Panels and tell them to route the turntable sound to the speakers.

Are you using "Image" in the Exact Copy of a Disk Drive sense, or "Selfie At The Beach" sense? Audacity has no image processing abilities.

It's a pretty sure bet you're not recording from the turntable. Remember to plug the turntable in first, let Windows recognize it and then start Audacity. had problem but got help an got it working. What was the help? "Select the turntable in the Device Toolbar?" That sounds an awful lot l...
