Re: how to record music to cd
If you're in Windows, you can copy your songs into Windows Media and then follow their instructions to burn an Audio CD. There's a number of pitfalls in this process so read through our tutorials. For one example, you can make a DATA CD instead of an AUDIO CD by accident and it will play in your com...

Re: Voice is Recording but Receiving no Playback
Audacity can route sound independently of what the rest of the computer is doing. You can set that with the Device Toolbar. [windevtool][/windevtool] That's a graphic shortcut for the Audacity Preferences Settings. Sometimes you can plug a USB sound device in and Windows will assume it's a speaker.....

Your new computer probably has Windows Enhanced Services so to make Skype and other voice conferencing sound better. It hates music. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements You could have other "services" like that as well depending on your comp...

Re: Few MS delay while recording vocals
Just because I haven't thrown enough cold water around, how are you listening to the backing tracks? In general, you can't just listen to the computer. Your live voice will always have a delay/echo to it when it comes back to your headphones. That one's Computer Delay , and there's no tuning for tha...

Re: Few MS delay while recording vocals
Since it appears you're trying to do overdubbing / sound-on-sound, did you set up Recording Latency in Audacity? That's the setting which "knows" the mismatch between your live voice and the playback instruments and adjusts the error out. It's not automatic. You do have to actually set it ...

Re: how to change search group in input devices.
Without going into the mixer instructions, I would say the connection is for mixer control, DJ control or MIDI, not sound. What do the instructions say? The surefire way to connect the mixer (again, I haven't seen the instructions) is to go the analog route with an external digitizer. Pick the Line-...

Re: Blue Snowball No Longer On Input Device List
Just hitting first level maintenance first: Is the microphone still alive? Does it work on another computer? Snowballs don't need special drivers and they'll work on your mum's laptop. Did you try a different USB port? Did you try restarting Audacity or Transport > Rescan Audio Devices? If there is ...

Re: Settings confusion after using Soundflower
I was trying to re-configure to record from a line-in source That's the direction which works simply. De-select everything that says "SoundFlower." Using SoundFlower produces recursive sound pathways (intentionally) and will make your head hurt. Far better and simpler to just go down the ...
